Lookbook - Staying Golden June 21 2016, 0 Comments

"Thank you for being a friend.

Travel down the road and back again.

Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant."

- theme from The Golden Girls

This week, we celebrate the most important pop culture announcement on social media, the arrival of The Golden Girls cafe, in New York City. This is arguably one of the greatest moments for fans of the show, ever.

Consisting solely of a cast above age 50, the sitcom about friendship, love, triumph, and tragedy was light-years ahead of its time — especially since it celebrated age and its corresponding wisdom. Thanks to the wit of Dorothy, the sass of Sophia, the confidence of Blanche, and the optimism of Rose, The Golden Girls has cemented itself as a beacon of hope by girlfriends and girl squads worldwide. We are better, well-adjusted women for watching, and now we can celebrate our "goldness" in a cafe themed around our favorite fabulous ladies! Life is good, so, so, good!

This week's lookbook is a little tongue-and-cheek, but we think Dorothy would approve. We've incorporated a few of our favorite G.G. inspired treats into a package worthy of a fuzzy slipper-wearing, night-in with your own golden gals, OR if you're really feeling inspired, a trip to NYC to see what all of the fuss is about. Either way, you know with this crowd there's going to be midnight cheesecake and St. Olaf stories!

Lookbook - Morning Market June 11 2016, 0 Comments

"My grandfather used to say that once in your life you need a doctor, a lawyer,  a preacher and a policeman but everyday, three times a day, you need a farmer."

- Brenda Schoepp

We L.O.V.E. local! There’s nothing better than checking out local events, especially the farmers’ markets. Where else can you pick up fresh fruits and vegetables, look through local artists’ work, sample amazing food, and hear live music all at once? It’s among the best forms of entertainment during the warm summer months.

One of the best thing about farmers’ markets is that they’re populated by local farmers, vendors, and artists, which means that not only are you scoring great deals on fresh foods, but you’re also doing your part to help your local economy. That's why today's look is all about rounding up the fam for a morning market date.

We're keeping it casual today, because it's the weekend and weekends are meant to be anything but fussy. Start with a tailored pair of navy culottes paired with striped boatneck tee. A straw fedora to keep that morning sun out of the eyes would be good it you have one. Now let's throw in an adorable pair of punchy red mocs, both comfortable and colorful to brighten the look. Last step, bring everything together with a special tote customized for the family Fido and you are set to jet.

Denim and Mocs - Tried and True June 07 2016, 0 Comments

 "Food.

Water.

Denim and mocs.

Let's get back to the essentials."

- Some wise person,

somewhere

There is a tried and true loving relationship between denim and moccasins. This is one of those combinations that is just so inherently "yes" that you can not deny its rightness. Let's evaluate. Moccasins are one of the most versatile type of shoes because they can match almost any outfit from skirts and dresses, to jeans and shorts. There are even a few brides out there who sneak in a pair of blue mocs with their gown, because you know, comfort and style on the big day.

With the moccasin there is a whole variety of options that you can choose from. No matter what your style or personality, preference to cool or warm colors, those who adore simple casual styles; you will absolutely not go wrong with moccasins. Denim, is the same way, especially when it is worn with a great moccasin. Skinny, short, wide legged, skirted...it's all there for the pairing (and wearing).

So whichever way you choose to pair your denim and mocs, do it often and do it with style. Give us a cuffed pair of boyfriend jeans and a pair of thunderbird mocs and call it a day!

Lookbook - Late Afternoon Latté June 06 2016, 0 Comments

"I have measured out my life in coffee spoons." - T.S. Elliot

Sneaking in a midday nap has never been so enticing, yet so out of the question. Right now it is 3pm in the afternoon and this blogger is ready to wave the white flag and admit defeat. Hands in the air, today has won the battle. This morning was spent checking things off a long list of errands, followed by chores at home (laundry, boo....more laundry), and now it's finally time to sit down and do a little work. Since a restorative nap is not in the lineup, let us take a moment and imagine the bliss that is Fika - a Swedish coffee break.

Today's outfit inspiration is perfect for a warm and breezy afternoon stop at a café. Imagine sitting outside, soaking in a bit of vitamin D, maybe people watching, as you sip from your favorite coffee drink, made to order. It is a heavenly vision. Give thanks to coffee, fuel in the morning and now a boost in the late afternoon.

In this Fika daydream, wearing a chambray romper seems the best option - paired with a pair of classic cutout, wedge slingbacks in white, of course. And because we are treating ourselves in the middle of the day, let's throw on a feel-good statement necklace in citrus yellow. Finish the look off with a bright, punchy clutch and you have yourself a vision! Oh, and don't forget to throw a folding fan into that clutch. We are feeling fancy today!

Blue is Blissful June 04 2016, 0 Comments

"Water is very forgiving. Everything lifts in water."

- Sarah McLachlan

When standing at the water's edge looking out onto a placid body of water, it's impossible to ignore the feeling of calmness and relaxation that begins to wash over you. As if the struggles of the work week have dissolved into a distant memory, all you are left with is the promise of weekend restoration and repose. A truly beautiful promise. In hopes of capturing a bit of that moment of ease and carrying it home, this weekend's style post revolves around the color that so many of us identify as serene - the color blue.

Blue is a cool and calming color that is linked to an interest in creativity and intelligence. It is a color that symbolizes loyalty, strength, wisdom and trust. Also known to have a calming effect on the psyche - in every way, blue is blissful.

Did you know, those who prefer blue are known to be good at vocal communication - teachers and the public speakers? The color blue has been associated with those who love to help and assist friends in need. Blue in relation to success is defined by the quality and quantity of its relationships - it’s a giver, not a taker. It has been said that blue fans like to build strong, trusting relationships and form deep bonds of trust. It is no wonder so many flock to this color.

Lookbook - Summer School Chic June 02 2016, 0 Comments

"The difference between school and life? In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches a lesson."

- Tom Bodett

Attending summer school this year? We've got a suggestion for staying cool, fashionable, and school-appropriate. Summer dressing can be difficult when you're dealing with hot weather, yet still want to look pulled-together. Accomplish this by starting with a piece that is made from light and breathable fabrics. A simple summer dress is a good place to start especially if afternoon class melts into nighttime activities with no break in between.

To keep your look school-appropriate, stick to hemlines that are not too revealing and bring along a cover-up of some sort. There are many options, we've paired our summer dress choice with a cute denim jacket in case the evening gets chilly. Finish off the look with comfortable, yet stylish, heeled sandals and simple, crystalline jewelry. Now, you are ready to hit the books and look good doing it.

Open for Business March 13 2016, 0 Comments

It's official. We've flung open the doors to the shop. What can we say - at Winnebago Fine Goods & Gifts spring is in full swing. We really couldn't be happier campers about it! Everyone has been busy unpacking the season's most darling sandals and mocs, admiring each pair as it hits the sales floor. Pretty sure we've all been imagining on which of the wonderful adventures this fantastic footwear will accompany us.

So what's looking good for spring you ask?

The staff favorite so far has been the Venice Fringe bootie. We're drawn to the stand-out look and sporty comfort of this shoe. The moccasin fringe and toe stitching provide eye-catching style, while the vulcanized rubber outsole delivers an athletic sneaker feel. Perfect for road tripping, farmer's market and comfortable morning coffee dates.

Available in three colors options: taupe, brown, and black, the Venice may quickly become the season's must-have bootie. It pairs perfectly with skinny or boyfriend jeans, transitions nicely with crops, and layers well under a mid-length skirt and seasonable sweater. Right now, we're loving the contrasting look of dark tights and the Venice bootie in taupe.
